The Fluorescent Penetrant Testing (FPI) is a technique that inspect the surface integrity of parts made of materials that are not too porous. The fluorescent penetrant liquid is overspread on a component in order to allow the penetration of the liquid into possible surface defects. Then the exceeding penetrant liquid is removed and the part is spread with a chemical product that allows the liquid into the defects to come over showing the detected discontinuities.
